Kirksville the
Birth place of Osteopathic Medicine

Carrie Peecher, Cheif Family Medicine Resident

Kirksville is the place where Doctor A.T. Still began the first school of Osteopathic Medicine. His goal was to provide a new way of looking at medicine. He was interested in the whole person and the interaction of the bodily systems. It was a new approach for the times and still stands the test of time as a powerful approach to heath care today.

"To find health should be the object of the doctor. Anyone can find disease."

Northeast Regional is the teaching hospital associated with the founding school of Osteopathic Medicine. We encourage you to come to the place where the vision of Osteopathy began and lives on.

What do NRCM Residents think?

I grew up in New Mexico in a small town, so I have really enjoyed living in Kirksville. I have a dog and if I cannot get home to walk her I have 5 volunteers that will. It is that kind of town.
Neha Patel, D.O. Internal Medicine Co-Chief Resident

I am from the Kirksville area, and I know it is a safe community and a great place to live. We have that small town life where you really feel a part of things.
