Feb. 23, 2011, CHICAGO — Becker's Hospital Review has named the 50 best hospitals in America, which cover a wide spectrum from well-known academic medical centers to less widely recognized community hospitals that have reached greatness without much fanfare.

Each of these organizations has put patients' needs first, is driven by a variety of innovations and helped to set the bar for high-quality care. Each hospital has an impressive list of achievements and a story to tell.

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team analyzed, scored and weighted data from outside sources on factors including patient safety, clinical outcomes and reputation. After examining these national rankings, the editorial team performed additional research and sought insight from industry sources before determining final selections.
