Patients & Visitors
Current Visitor Guidelines
The safety of patients, visitors and our healthcare team members is critical to our delivery of quality medical care. When in the hospital for treatment, the best interest of our patients is to minimize unnecessary exposure to infectious or communicable diseases.
Current Visitor Policy Includes:
- Each pediatric patient staying overnight under the age of 18 may have ONE adult visitor designated as a permitted visitor for the duration of their hospital stay.
- Each obstetric patient directed to the labor and delivery floor for care may have ONE adult visitor designated as a permitted visitor for the duration of the hospital stay.
- Outpatient (same day) surgery patients are now permitted one visitor to accompany them.
- Beginning on Tuesday, July 28, patients visiting the emergency room will be able to have one visitor accompany them.
We understand our patient’s need to have their loved ones near, and we are very sensitive to that need. As always, safe and compassionate care is our goal.
Same Day Surgery and Emergency Room Visitors:
- Are defined as one adult designated as a permitted visitor for the duration of the patients stay.
- Will be screened and asked questions prior to entry for signs/symptoms of COVID-19, recent travel, and contact with COVID-19 persons.
- Will be asked to leave if they answer yes to screening questions.
- Will be expected to stay in the patient room at all times.
- Will not be permitted to switch support persons and must wear a mask and practice good hand hygiene.
If you are experiencing a fever or have respiratory or flu-like symptoms such as cough, running nose, sore throat, chills or muscle aches, postpone your visit unless you are coming to the hospital for medical care.
People who have traveled to a high-risk area for COVID-19 or had contact with a person known to be infected with COVID-19 are not permitted to visit patients.
All visitors are asked to practice infection prevention.
- Sanitize your hands when entering the hospital and when entering or exiting patient rooms.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow or a tissue; dispose of used tissues in the trash.
- Sanitize your hands after coughing or sneezing.
If you would like to drop off a card, gift or other message of encouragement, we are happy to deliver those to patients. You may also call a patient’s room so they can hear your voice and you can hear how they are doing. The hospital has free Wi-Fi, so you may visit patients using Facetime or another video communication app.
We appreciate your understanding and compliance. With your help, we can maintain a safe environment for all our patients, visitors, and staff.
At Northeast Regional Medical Center,we understand that coming to the hospital as a patient or as a loved one's support person can be a difficult, often overwhelming experience. Whether you’re experiencing a hospital stay or stopping by to see friends and family, knowing where to go and what to bring will help make your visit less stressful. To make your experience easier, we want to provide you with helpful information you may need for your visit, such as what to expect, parking instructions, transportation and more.
During the admissions process you will be given a Patient Guide, which will provide key information for your stay. If you would like to have a guide prior to your arrival, guides are available at the front door Information Desk or in Admissions. Just ask for one!
